Todd Boyce performed Don Giovanni in a new production by Georg Zlabinger at Theater Bielefeld in early October. First reviews of his performance are glowing…
“a light-footed and demonic Todd Boyce, who knows how to both flatter and slaughter with his multi-faceted baritone.”
-WESTFALEN-BLATT (Uta Jostwerner, Oct. 7th, 2024)
“Todd Boyce sings Giovanni with an agile and engaging baritone, rather brightly timbred [...] the direction portrays him as an always violent daredevil, with elegance and charm (which Boyce implements with great stage presence). But ultimately he is a lonely man.”

Todd Boyce graduated from Oberlin Conservatory and was a member of the Opera Studio at the Bayerische Staatsoper. After two seasons in Munich, he briefly joined the ensemble at the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, Austria, under the direction of the world-famous mezzo-soprano Brigitte Fassbaender, before heading to Switzerland, where he spent a combined ten seasons in Luzern and Bern giving hundreds of performances in leading roles of the Lyric and Kavalier-Baritone fachs. Often praised for the flexibility, power, and noble quality of his voice, he feels at home in all musical genres. He has been invited for guest productions at Zürich Opera, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the International Händel Festspiele Göttingen, Staatstheater Cottbus, Theater Hagen, and Landestheater Detmold, among others, and performs regularly in concert and recital. This season he will give concerts at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden under the baton of Mark Elder, as well as New Year’s concerts with Landestheater Detmold and his own Liederabend with Lied et Melodie in Geneva, Switzerland. Among his very first engagements were concerts with The Cleveland Orchestra under Franz Welser-Möst, and he has had the honor to work with some of the most sought-after conductors on the world stage, such as Marco Armiliato, Christian Curnyn, Laurence Cummings, Ottavio Dantone, Kevin John Edusei, James Gaffigan, Stephen Lord, Fabio Luisi, Kent Nagano, Gianandrea Noseda, Kirill Petrenko, and Simone Young, among others.
Todd can also be seen this season as Figaro in the critically acclaimed production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Nadja Loschky at Theater Bielefeld, as Ford in Falstaff, and as David and other roles in Wims Hendrickx’s The Convert.
